So, because of Kelly's job, sometimes he has to go out of town. Because it can be fun to leave town for a couple of days, Kathy sometimes goes stay with Kelly at the hotel he is put in. Sometimes it is a really nice one; last time they stayed at the Embassy Suites on the TENTH FLOOR (right beside the Presidential Suite!) with glass elevators. When they were in the elevator some guy pressed the button for floor 9, and when Kelly pressed the 10th floor button the guy looked Kelly up and down like he sizing him up or something.
Well, this last time, they weren't so lucky.
They asked for a non-smoking, and ended up on a floor where the opposite wall was SMOKING! And for NON-smokers, that isn't very comfortable. They both had sore throats those two mornings they were there. Kathy put up a "do not disturb" sign and the maids went in there anyway. It was an all around bad experience. So, as Kathy does when she believes the service is really good or really bad, she went on their website to let them know.
She told the Howard Johnson Hotel about the disrespectful service and the ridiculous comment the hotel clerk told them: that they "should, next time, ask for a floor that is completely non-smoking." She said how dissappointed she was--and spent a good amount of time explaining why.
Then she realized they stayed at the Holiday Inn.
Maybe they will get free stuff at both places :)
She said she'd let you know.

I like the background to your blog! It is the first background I used when I started blogging. :) Your story is hilarious. (The part about emailing the wrong hotel, not the sore throat part.)
Hope you are all doing well and that the California sunshine finds it's way to the east coast soon.
Hi Kathy. I'm so proud of you for blogging and when I retire or am no longer in R.S. pres., I'm going to learn to do it and post pictures and everything--someday--really! Miss you guys. Thanks so much for taking those sweethearts in. I hope everything works out well for everyone in both our families. Love from Joy
